Beneath the Surface

Painting on panel with a trompe l'oeil 'stone' frame.

This was inspired by tales of kelpies and mermaids in the North East of Scotland, where I lived for 5 years. We regularly saw seals and dolphins, cormorants and even minke whales in the Moray Firth, but I often wondered what else lived below the waves in the depths beyond the harbour walls.
